Due to its density, water is a much more efficient medium of sound than air. Drawing inspiration from the Blubberbeast, someone from the Research Institute invented a type of technology that converted images into data to facilitate instant transmission. But due to the technical limitations of the experiment, it never became widely adopted outside the Institute.

An Armored Crab that avoids predation, and can keep hunting and eating, will continue to grow, continually seeking out suitable shells to become its new armor. But eventually, it became simply too gargantuan. Before the first diluvian period, a massive Armored Crab once attacked a ship, and was finally forced back into the depths by Basil Elton, who had not yet been reinstated as a naval commander.

In the legends and rumors of Fontaine, a brutal war was once waged among the Aberrants of the Fontemer, leaving only the "Millennial Pearl Seahorse" and "Emperor of Fire and Iron" splitting the great lake into two courts, one ruling over the north, the other the south. In the "Song of Dobharcu," the writer describes the outcome of the war: the great Hunter's Ray known as the Stormlord stirred huge waves in its death throes, causing what is now known by the people as the "first diluvian period"...

Xuanwen Beasts, named for the dark patterns on their bodies, are fierce creatures that inhabit the mountains of Chenyu Vale.
沉玉谷本地的民话中，在遥远的过去，这些猛兽曾是某位仙人的眷属，降妖伏魔、庇护一方，在仙人故去后，方才退化为凶暴的野兽。传说早已无从查考，仙人的身份也众说纷纭，唯一可以确定的是，出于安全考虑，最好还是不要贸然靠近这些暴躁的生灵。
In the region's folklore, these beasts were the servants of an adeptus in ancient times, tasked with vanquishing evil and protecting the region. However, they devolved into brutal creatures after said adeptus passed away. These legends cannot be verified, and no one knows the true identity of this adeptus. This much is for sure, however — one should stay away from these aggressive creatures for one's safety.

When it slept, mountains would form along its back, and when it woke, it would shake off the dirt and rocks, leaving behind gems and jade shining amongst its scales. The huge, drill-shaped objects in the Children of Echoes are said to be the remains of that great drake's large drill-horn.

Their skin and flippers are still soft and tender, to the point that they can't even tolerate hot environments for long periods like adults. However, one day, they will grow into the form that can swim freely through the water.

A Saurian with thick, strong flippers and a long tail that can swim in water and liquid phlogiston.
传说中，更为远古的龙拥有更加强的环境适应度，那时海中最为巨大的龙漂浮在水面上时，甚至会让人误以为是一座浮起的岛屿。据说现在的鳍游龙就是那种巨大海龙的后裔，从其宽阔的背部，似乎也能窥得远古海兽的庞然形态。
According to legend, more ancient dragons were even more able to adapt to their environments, and when the largest dragon in the ocean of the age floated on the surface, it could even be mistaken for an island. It is said that today's Koholasaurus are the descendants of that great sea dragon, and in their broad backs the colossal forms of those ancient sea beasts may yet be glimpsed.

A young Yumkasaurus with the ability to spit Flamegranate pectin hidden in their cheek pouches out, wrapping around distant objects.
卷住物体的力量并不强，自身的平衡感也远未达到可在空中自如穿梭的程度，有时即使是坐在尾巴上也会不由自主地向着一侧倾倒。不过终有一日，能够成长为在林间悠然摆荡的样貌吧。
Their hold on pectin-coated objects isn't strong enough, nor is their sense of balance good enough to allow them to move freely through the air. Sometimes, they'll even fall over to one side just sitting on their tails. However, one day, they will grow into the form that can swing freely between the trees without a care.

A Saurian with powerful hind legs and a fluffy tail, capable of spitting Flamegranate pectin hidden in their cheek pouches out, wrapping around distant objects.
传说中，原本的匿叶龙并非现在的模样，而是更小，小到不易被观察到的程度。它们甚至可以随意游荡在风中，依附在其他巨龙的身体表面，或是如云一般群聚与游移。只是后来为了能够维持住能力退化后的形态，不得不选择现在的身姿。
According to legend, the original Yumkasaurs were not at all like today, but much smaller, so small that they were difficult even to see. They could roam freely with the wind, cling to the bodies of the massive dragons, or gather in groups to move about like clouds. However, in order to maintain their form after their abilities degenerated, they had no choice but to assume their current shape.

曾经与众英杰们携手面对漆黑潮水的「山王」，在「悬木人」部族的成员心中具备极重的分量。有部族人认为，它有着现在这样的体态，是与绒翼龙的「暴君」一般，拥有着特殊的体质…但也许只是因为它活得太长，而吃得也实在太多了的缘故。
This "Mountain King," who once joined forces with the great heroes against the Black Tide, holds a special place in the hearts of the Scions of the Canopy. Some tribe members believe that it has its current body shape because it has a unique physique, like the Qucusaurus "Tyrant"... Though in fact, this is simply because it's lived for so long, and eaten way, WAY too much.

A Qucusaurus whose body has attained a supernatural form due to enduring forces that the bodies of modern Saurians cannot control.
在古老的传说里，如今常于山间迷雾盘桓的巨大翼龙，也曾在幼年时跟随故事里拯救纳塔的英杰们一同历险。据说众英雄的其中一位曾相约与它一同踏上前往火山的圣路，以挽回它因血脉中逐渐狂暴的力量而濒临失常的心智。只是以这位「暴君」现在获得的称呼来看，这段故事并未拥有完满的结局。
Legends say that when the giant Qucusaur who now often dwells in the mountain fog was young, he also once followed the heroes who saved Natlan in their adventures. It is said that one of those heroes once agreed to make the pilgrimage with him together to the volcano, to save his mind back from the brink of insanity that the increasing violent power in his blood was forcing him towards. However, judging from his current title of "Tyrant," that story did not have a happy ending.

The ancient civilization used many different types of golden designs to drive the flow of phlogiston, allowing massive constructs and magnificent cities to operate under the wisdom of the golden patterns. It is said that in addition to machines with fixed structures, the creatures known as Avatars of Lava are actually badly damaged lifeforms that were once created in the same way. However, after the flames of the sacred mountain were extinguished, most of them lost their sense of purpose and direction.

Once, a more ancient and deep fire burned across all of Natlan in myriad forms. At that time, the once-great primitive residents used these fires to transmit light, heat, and wisdom. They believed that life and the soul too took their initial shape from the sparks that flew when flint was struck.
如果拥有常燃之芯，即使是顽石也能成就生命吧，被名为熔岩游像包裹在体内的余烬，似乎也是那伟大时代冷灰般的残余。
If it possesses an eternally burning core, then even a stubborn stone can bring about life. The embers within the body of the Avatar of Lava seem to be the cold, ash-like remnants of that ancient era.

The people of Natlan believe that the Wayob dwell in the kingdom of the Lord of the Night, and have no fixed form, instead attaching themselves to anything in order to provide guidance to lost tribespeople. Wayob manifestations are particularly special, and the figure revealed through the totems often has an important purpose.

A Saurian-Crowned Warrior once said that he fought with a Wayob in a trance while practicing his skills, and in doing so, gained deeper understanding.
